The beauty of vulnerability, and how many women have misconstrued or misunderstood activity, initiative and submission in the context of relationships.
I’ve been reflecting on femininity and masculinity for a while now. This consciously started when a friend asked me to read “The World’s First Love: Mary, Mother of God” by Fulton Sheen and discuss it with him regarding gender complementarity for the sake of greater understanding of the subject. I’ve always appreciated “traditional” gender roles, but I know I’m still figuring out exactly what those are. Getting to know Mary has truly been essential in all my wrestling. Sheen writes: “Woman is made for the sacred. She is heaven’s instrument on earth. Mary is the prototype, the pattern-Woman who fulfills in herself the deepest aspirations of the heart of every daughter of Eve.”
