I once went to see an OB/GYN for a health concern I had. He was over an hour late for my appointment, and hardly acknowledged my presence, let alone apologize, when he entered my room. I explained my health concerns. He asked me how much I weighed. I told him. For the first time during the whole appointment, he looked up at me and said, “I don’t even weigh that much and I’m such and such height.” He then went back to studying my chart. I asked him for his advice. He told me, point blank, “Stop eating,” and continued to write in my chart. He didn’t check my BMI, he didn’t check my muscle mass, he didn’t ask me how much or how little I eat, he never asked me how active I was… He just assumed that I make it a habit and hobby of eating too much (of course like all overweight people). That was pretty much the extent of that appointment.
So yeah, the judgment talked about in the article happens frequently enough.
