Someone said to me the other day that they didn't know that I had a brother. 🤦🏿‍♀️ Well I do. And a sister too. My brother is not on social media and so that's why I never tag him in anything and why you always see @chantall_samuels888 get tagged. Anyways, it's been fun being the eldest of three (not really but you know -- I had to say something nice.) On a serious note, they truly are my greatest supporters. (This is a picture of us at my 24th birthday in Montreal). Happy Belated #nationalsiblingday . #nationalsiblingsday

I love this group of people. 😍All ages, cultures and (dancing) abilities united under one purpose -- to dance. To sweat. To experience the joy of movement. To leave it all on the dance floor. That's what Zumba is all about. 💕 They came through the snow, sleet, hail, and dark of night (literally -- Ottawa is winter 24/7) to dance with me for my last class tonight. I am so humbled and grateful to have been with you on this journey.🤗 💕 And what a journey it has been! We have gone through breast cancer, depression, fibromyalgia, back pain, Lyme disease, septic shock, new moves, new jobs, unemployment, permanent residency, retirement, self-esteem issues, divorce, marriage, breakups, birth and even death together. We have laughed, cried and sweat together. We are family. I am thankful for the community that we have created. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and on your journey to health and wellbeing. 💕 Being a fitness instructor and personal trainer has been the most rewarding experience of my life to date. Teaching you all -- whether on land or in the water -- has been the highlight of my time here in Ottawa.😊 💕 I hope I have been able to lead you into a deeper appreciation for your body and the way it moves. I hope I have helped build your confidence in yourselves. I hope you know that you all are amazing dancers. I've been watching you, and I'm impressed. I have enjoyed witnessing your individual metamorphoses and the way you all have blossomed over the years.🤩 💕 I will miss you all. Please, please, please keep dancing. Apparently Law Ball was six years ago on this very day (April 6). The McGill law class of '13 is officially six years out of law school. Go figure. Time flies. . Every now and again I'm surprised that I actually finished law school. It was a horrible academic experience, topped only by the Barreau du Quebec. I hated law school from the depths of my being. It was pretty much an open secret (and eventually a running joke) among my friends. I hated all of my classes. I was so mind-numbingly *bored*. Law school was the first time in my life that I ever failed a course. When grades were posted after exams, I used to check just to make sure I wasn't on academic probation. I never worked so hard for a 2.67 GPA in my entire life. . I distinctly remember having a meltdown by myself in my apartment half way through the program because I couldn't imagine enduring two more years of law school. Law school turned me off of reading for years -- it was a while before I could read a book to completion again. It also turned me off from pursuing any further education. To this day I find it hard sit and learn in classroom settings. I simply don't have the attention span anymore. . You couldn't pay me to do law school again. I loved Montreal, but I do not look back on those years with any degree of fondness. . Thankfully, I graduated (by God's grace!), and that's all that matters. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 That's why I add "LL.B" and "B.C.L." at the end of my name whenever I can. I worked HARD for those letters. 😄😅 . I also met the most amazing people and joined a professional network that serves me to this very day. The resulting friendships made the sheer and utter boredom of law school worth it. 🥰

Let's talk about clothes shall we? . Ever think you look fly in the moment but then you see a video of yourself and you wonder what on earth you were thinking? Then you start criticizing yourself -- I can see my back fat and belly roll! Ughhhh -- and it becomes a slippery slope of nit picking. . What I love about God is that He cares more about my heart than my clothing. He doesn't see me the way I see myself. He doesn't nitpick at my attire but He will strip away my pride and refine my heart. He loves me just the way that I am but He refuses to leave me that way. The @im_still_standing_series inaurgal conference and women's retreat was about just that -- "Uncovering the Dysfunction of our Hearts". . I was asked to lead a Christian Zumba class at the conference -- my first one! -- and I'm amazed at how God has used my passion for Zumba for ministry. . @jem_jackson completely outdid herself. I felt like this was the Canadian version of T.D. Jakes' Woman Thou Art Loosed conference. And I can tell you I've never cried at an altar call until this past weekend. I met a lot of cool ppl and I just feel refreshed and encouraged. Praise God. 🙌🏿 . I was reminded that I am clothed in strength and dignity and that I can laugh without fear of the future (Prov. 31:25). To some, this may look like nastiness in a bowl 🤮 -- to me, it was heaven. 😍 Chickpea cookie dough dip -- vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free. . I'm not the first to create this recipe (obvi), but basically here's how you make it: . Chickpeas, almond butter, dates or maple syrup, vanilla, a little bit of salt, water, oats and/or flax meal (optional -- I used @only.oats) and blend in a food processor et voilà -- raw cookie dough that's high in fibre and chock full of good fats (I promise you can't taste the chickpeas). Top it off with dairy free chocolate chips (@enjoylifefoods) and you're good to go. . Use it as a dip for veggies (carrots, celery, apples, berries) or use it for dessert with real cookies.
