You have to actually love me in order to tell me something about myself "in love."⁣ ⁣(I was inspired to write this after I saw a concerning comment on a friend's post). ⁣⁣ I can't tell you how many times I've seen religious people rebuke someone "in love" when it was really only done in ignorance or arrogance. It's like saying "no offence" -- every offence is intended.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ They'll see you walk into a church with dreadlocks or earrings, or nail polish, or a short skirt, or a tight dress, or cleavage or any other thing they deem abominable, or they'll see something you've written or said -- basically they see you being yourself, exercising your gifts as best you know how -- and then they'll pull you aside and tell you to change. Or stop. Or to go home. Or they censor you from any further participation in church activities. And then they manipulate and gaslight you by saying that they're telling you this "in love." They don't know you and they've never spoken to you otherwise, but they "love" you.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I'm not above correction, rebuke or criticism. "Those He loves He chaseneth." But if you are going to criticize me "in love" make sure you are actually concerned about my wellbeing and that you understand my motives more than you are about abiding by church policy and upholding what is often merely a discrete cultural opinion on decorum, gifts and presentation.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you do not know me, if you do not love me, in reality your holy words sound like brass and fall on deaf ears. I only listen to people who actually know me and love me and have my best interest in mind.⁣ ⁣⁣ Love implies a prior, existing relationship of significance. And love is patient. And kind. And hopes for the best and believes the best. So if your criticism is none of these things, you are not speaking to me "in love". You do so in self-righteousness. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And if you knew me or the person you try to correct, you'd know the context and you'd care to know the whole story, rendering the constructive criticism relevant. ⁣ ⁣ If you see me going astray, pull me aside, tell me in private, send me a private message, speak to me kindly. But before you do all that, make sure you actually love me first.
With that extra hour of sleep 💤 you get tomorrow morning you'll have the energy you need to come out and dance. :) #springforward #fallback I know it's dark and dreary but let's start the week started on the right foot! (Get it? I'm so punny.) Plus -- good news! -- I'll be teaching Zumba at @fitzoneplus on Mondays starting Nov. 11. Come shake it with me in a safe, inclusive, body positive space where mistakes and missteps are welcome!
This is the part of exercise I abhor: strength training. Weights. Muscular conditioning.⁣ ⁣ But it's good for you. So I do it.⁣ ⁣ The fact that I was filming myself was added motivation to push through. 😂 I don't know how these fitness influencers do it -- it's hella awkward to discreetly tape yourself. Plus I'm always scared that it'll look vain. Going to the gym early on a weekday morning (particularly now when it's cold, people are busy and it's the calm before the uptick in January uptick) is one way to get around the awkwardness.⁣ ⁣ I typically workout by myself, so filming myself also helps me check out my form and self-correct.⁣ ⁣ Plus I'm tired of seeing skinny minis with their fake butts and waist trainers all up in my timeline. So I've curated my feed so that I'm always looking at women who look like me. I follow plus-sized fitness influencers exclusively.⁣ ⁣ Also, daring to be seen exercising when you're 200+ lbs is an act of resistance and I hope to contribute to the #strongandthick images on Instagram.⁣ ⁣ Seeing people who look like me on social media working out definitely encourages me to do the same.⁣ ⁣ Maybe seeing me do my thang in the gym will encourage someone else. #representationmatters
¡Buenas tardes! We had an amazing class this morning and I got to teach this song that I choreographed all by myself!⁣ ⁣ Every instructor has their strong points and weaknesses. I have great rhythm and musicality, I have a wide variety of musical interests that span multiple genres and decades, my cueing is improving, I'm good at class engagement and eye contact, I'm learning to wear pants that actually fit so that I'm not yanking them up all the time... and I hate creating my own choreo, so I rely on that of others. I don't have that "choreo-gift" like @henrycedenozj.⁣ ⁣ Oh but this song -- this song was different. I was inspired (this only happens about twice a year.😂). I choreographed it in my head during my TTC commute to and from work and then tried it out in the weeeee hours of the morning.⁣ ⁣ It worked. I think the class likes it. I'm posting it here so you and practice and get ahead of the game (or catch up) for next week. ⁣ ⁣ ¡Ay, mujer bonita! Tú tienes eso que mi cuerpo necesita. (Ok, so I admit that the song is not only about a woman's beauty. 😉)
I think I'm pretty. I think I'm beautiful. I appreciate all of the things my body does for me. People tell me that they admire my confidence. And yet when someone asked in a Facebook group if they would ever send nudes to their partner, it hit me that I actually don't like my body enough to send someone nudes... or to ever let someone else see me naked for that matter.⁣ ⁣ The idea that other people might find me sexy is still a relatively new concept for me. I suppose that by the time a guy asks for nudes he's already physically attracted to you (maybe even hard 🍆), but there's always the fear that I might not live up to his fantasy when he sees the real deal (phone hacking, leaks and revenge porn aside).⁣ ⁣ I've mastered the art of finding and wearing a supportive bra. I know what shapewear to buy. I look great with clothes on... But *I* know what I look like naked, and it's never been something I'm proud of. Or that I could stare at. So in my flawed deductive reason I've concluded that if I feel this way others must feel the same.⁣ ⁣ I look like I've given birth to at least five children (mind you, I've never had children - at least as far as I know 😂). I like my boobies, but my breasts are big and saggy and droopy. I have a booty-do i.e. my belly sticks out more than my booty do. Lol. While I've made peace with my stretch marks, I have backfat, rolls, folds, some hyperpigmentation and I have a tummy that hangs over my panty -- I definitely don't feel attractive when naked.⁣ ⁣ I have great legs tho. And feet. And shoulders. *shimmies*⁣ ⁣ Most days I'm feeling myself and I'm celebrating #hotgyalsummer or #thotumn but lately I feel so *ick*. I tolerate what I see in the mirror. And don't get it twisted -- this is not merely about weightloss or size. I've been smaller but I've always felt the same way. I'm not yet convinced that MY naked body would actually turn someone on. My clothed/half naked body perhaps...but my naked body? Hmmm. 🤔 Still not convinced. ⁣ ⁣ Apparently men see a woman's body more holistically whereas women tend to nitpick flaws...so there's that...⁣ ⁣ Looks like I have more work to do. #bodylove #lglscbodylove @lovegod_lovesex #thotumn🍂
